Product Description
The 12g rollers (18x14mm) are a popular middle-ground tuning part for the GY6 engine, found in a massive variety of street scooters, go-karts, and ATVs. What These Rollers FitThese specific rollers fit the GY6 125cc to 150cc 4-stroke engine family (technically known as the 152QMI and 157QMJ models). Common brands that use this engine and roller size include: Genuine: Buddy 125/150/170, Blur.
- Kymco: Agility 125/150, Super 8 150, Movie 125/150, Like 125.
- Chinese Import Brands: TaoTao, Roketa, Ice Bear, Wolf, Amigo, BMS, Jonway, and Tank.
- Go-Karts & ATVs: Many 150cc “buggies” and karts also use this GY6-based CVT transmission.
Why Rollers are Good (and Essential)Rollers are the “brain” of your scooter’s transmission. They act as an automatic gearbox by using centrifugal force to change your gear ratio as you speed up.
- Automatic Shifting: As the engine spins faster, the rollers are thrown outward. This movement pushes the variator closed, forcing the belt to a higher position (like shifting a bike into a higher gear).
- Customizable Performance: By changing the weight of the rollers, you decide whenthe scooter shifts:
- Lighter (e.g., 10g-11g): Keeps the engine at higher RPMs for longer. This is “good” for quick take-offs and climbing steep hills.
- Heavier (e.g., 13g-15g): Causes the transmission to shift up sooner. This is “good” for lower cruising RPMs and potentially higher top speeds on long, flat roads.
- 12g as a “Sweet Spot”: For many 150cc riders, 12g rollers provide a great balance—enough weight to reach top speed without making the scooter feel sluggish when pulling away from a stoplight.
- Cheap Maintenance: Rollers are wear items. Over time, they develop “flat spots” that cause jerky or slow acceleration. Replacing them is one of the most cost-effective ways to restore or “tune” your scooter’s feel.
